I’ve been having some interesting discussions lately with clients and within the wider coaching community around one big question:
How to future proof your coaching business in the age of AI?
Just a few thoughts to share here, but there is a lot more to say about this increasingly important topic for coaches.
1. Become More of a Specialist
I think having a niche and specialising will help you to stand out from the crowd and give you an advantage over AI.
People are prepared to pay for lived experience and the depth of insight that comes from years of doing the work, navigating challenges, leading teams and so on.
The more you have deep experience within a particular niche or area, the more valuable that becomes.
Alongside coaching, there may also be room for more consultancy-style support in your offers too. I know that’s not pure coaching, but it can give you an edge that AI cannot easily replicate.
2. Offer More Group and Team Coaching
I’ve been talking about this for years, but I think group coaching, team coaching and bringing people together as a community will become increasingly important.
When you bring people together, the value is not just from you as the coach. It also comes from the relationships, shared learning and conversations between participants.
At the moment, AI cannot really replicate that group dynamic in the same way. Also I think people will have an increasing desire to make human connections when they get fed up with interacting with IT!
3. Make Connections Beyond LinkedIn
Coaches have been telling me that even when LinkedIn has worked for them previously, it’s becoming less effective now.
I recently saw a statistic estimating that around 44% of LinkedIn content is AI-generated.
I’ve often said there are more effective ways to connect and build relationships with potential clients than on LinkedIn, that seems to be even more relevant now.
Particularly if you want to scale beyond one-to-one coaching.
